Vero Beach- Adele Hosty Clemens, formerly of Ocean Drive, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by family on December 4th, 2014 at the age of 95.

Adele was a devoted wife, loving mother, savvy business woman, and indulgent grandmother. She possessed a keen intelligence, boundless talent, a delightful wit, and a lambent smile.

Born July 18, 1919, in Chicago IL to Thomas and Della Hosty, Adele was truly a woman ahead of her time. She studied business at St. Mary's of Notre Dame and the University of Miami before founding the Chicago based insurance firm of Sullivan and Hosty. During her time at St. Mary's, she was introduced to James M. Clemens. They married on November 23, 1946 at St. Luke's Church in River Forest, IL.

Adele and her husband Jim "Lefty" began wintering in Florida over 60 years ago before becoming permanent residents. She was a woman of many interests including local politics, various charity organizations, and hosting family and friends in her home.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her brothers: Thomas Jr., William, and John Hosty, and her beloved husband of 55 years, James M. Clemens.

Adele is survived by her son James H. Clemens and his wife Carrie of St .Charles, IL, daughter Cathleen Clemens Kully of Virginia Beach, Va, and her six grandchildren: Christine Kully Hayes (Larry), John Michael Kully, Brittany Clemens, Megan Clemens, Ryan Clemens, and Sean Clemens. She is also survived by her sister, Patricia H. Donoghue of River Forest, IL and her many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to recognize and thank to Adele's grandson, John Michael Kully, for his selfless devotion of serving as Adele's live-in care for the past three years. We would also like to thank Kristi Anderson for her compassionate caregiving and positive attitude. Adele was an extraordinary human-being who lived life by her own rules. Life with her was truly an adventure, and she will be missed.
