Obituary

Adolphus Nicholson, 83, of Vero Beach, Florida, entered into eternal rest unexpectedly on August 19, 2025. He was born on June 15, 1942, in St. Andrew, Jamaica, to the late Joseph and Ambrozine (Edwards) Nicholson.

A man of unshakable faith, Adolphus served faithfully as a Deacon at Bible Way Church of God in Christ. He lived each day anchored in prayer, rooted in the Word of GOD,and guided by the Holy Spirit. His devotion was sacred, steady, and unmovable. His life was a living testimony of GODS grace—he did not just speak of Christ, he lived in full devotion to Christ. In times of need, Adolphus was often the answer to someone else's prayer—quick to give, eager to help, and always showing love in action, whether through his generosity, his encouragement, or by preparing warm meals to share.

Adolphus's love and affection for his mother, Ambrozine, was extraordinary and unforgettable. He honored her with deep respect and tender care, and his devotion to her became an example to all who knew him. That affection shaped the way he treated others—with gentleness, patience, and a heart always ready to serve. The same love he showed his mother radiated outward into the way he loved his family, his church, and his community. To his nieces Tasha.Denisha,Ashley,Beverly,Ann,Princess.nephews,Derrick,Michelle,Cato Ethan,Fitzroy,Dwight,Javon,Quentin,Mark, and a host of other nieces and nephew, cousins and sorrowing friends who will forever treasure his memory, affectionately known as "Uncle Dolphy"—a name that carried warmth, humor, and admiration.

Before coming  to the United States, Adolphus was a respected community tailor in Jamaica. With gifted hands and a sharp eye for detail, he created clothing that carried both beauty and dignity. Even when neighbors faced financial hardship, he always found a way to ensure they received what they needed. For Adolphus, tailoring was never just a trade—it was an expression of service, a ministry of love, and a way of honoring his community with dignity and respect. He came to USA in 1972, Where he worked multiple second jobs, and still maintained his  full time employment at Indian River County  and Bridge from 1982-2009 as an equipment operator.

Adolphus was known for his joyful presence and unforgettable sense of humor, which could brighten even the heaviest of days. His laughter was medicine, his smile contagious, and his joy unshakable. But alongside his warmth and kindness, he gave what his family lovingly remembers as "tough love." His words of correction and discipline were never meant to break, but to build—to sharpen character, to teach responsibility, and to prepare his loved ones for life. He believed in shaping hearts with accountability and guiding lives with faith. Above all, he constantly encouraged his family to pray without ceasing and to accept the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal Savior.

Adolphus leaves behind a legacy of faith, laughter, and love. He is survived by his devoted wife, Cecile Williams of Vero Beach; his four stepchildren, whom he loved as his own; his loving daughter, Althea Nicholson of Cheltenham Township, PA; his cherished grandchildren, Danielle Wilson, Aliyah Wilson, and Makkah Thomas; his son-in-law, William Thomas; great-grandchildren, Issac Friend and Elijah Ellis; his brother, Wilfred Nicholson, and sister-in-law, Lottie Nicholson of Vero Beach.
