Aldona B. Mikols (Mikolaitis) passed away peacefully on March 19, 2014 in Vero Beach, Florida after a brief illness. Aldona was born January 14, 1922 in Baltimore, Maryland, the third of three children born to Charles and Barbara Brooks. Her parents emigrated from their country of origin, Lithuania, in the early 20th century. Aldona married Christopher D. Mikols in June 1944 and they raised a family in Baltimore before retiring to Vero Beach over 30 years ago. They were instrumental in the founding of the Vero Beach Art Club and were active members with the Vero Beach Museum of Art and the broader art community for many years. She also enjoyed being part of the International Club and the Lithuanian American Society, where Aldona served as Publicity Chair for 15 years. She and her husband attended St. Helen's Catholic Church for many years.

Aldona was preceded in death by her older brother, Albert, and her sister, Magdute, her third daughter, Rhonda, as well as her spouse of 64 years, Christopher D. Mikols (Mikolaitis). She will be sorely missed by her daughter, Nancy and husband William Hinds, her daughter Patricia and husband, Oliver Franklin, her grandson, Julien Franklin, and her maternal cousins Rymantas and Laima Sinkevicius and their family. Aldona's remaining beloved extended family includes Cynthia Hinds and Wayne Simpson, Charles and Peggy Winscott and Lynn Creamer.

Aldona enjoyed an active life with many true friends. She enjoyed tennis for many years at Grove Isle with her "Racquettes" friends. Aldona embodied a true "joie de vivre" and she always made people feel they mattered and she was widely admired and loved. She will be treasured in the memories of all who knew her.
