Alexander David Dave Hunter, 65, of Vero Beach, passed away on September 13, 2008 after a courageous battle with leukemia. Dave was born in New Haven, CT residing in Connecticut until retiring to Vero Beach in 2002. He was the General Manager for the SEO Organization of Pratt & Whitney (P&W) for which he had a 40 year successful and rewarding career. Over his 40 years at P&W, he received several patents, directed a team of 200+ members with total responsibility for all aspects of Special Support Equipment from Line Maintenance through Overhaul and Repair and Test for P&Ws large Commercial and Military Engines Worldwide. He conducted business all over the world.
Dave leaves behind his wife, Jackie of 45 years, two daughters, Debbie Bryk (Ben) of Vero Beach, and Maureen Bazan (Stan) of Prospect, Connecticut, and a son David (Sara) of Pawcatuck, Connecticut. He was the proud grandfather of four grandchildren, Nicholas Bazan, Michael Bryk, , Patrick Bazan, and Lydia Hunter. He lived for his family and enjoyed his grandchildren immensely. He also leaves behind two sisters, Bernice Eastwood (Lee) of Sebastian and Mary Giaccone of Guilford, Connecticut along with two nieces and two nephews.
He loved spending time with his family, riding bikes, playing golf, swimming, planning family vacations and outings, taking pictures and building photo albums and movies in his computer. Dave was an active volunteer at St. Helen Catholic Church and School.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 17 from 4p.m. to 7 p.m. at Cox-Gifford- Seawinds, Vero Beach. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Helen Catholic Church, Vero Beach at 10 a.m. on Thursday, September 18. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Helen Church Debt Reduction Fund. A guest book may be signed at www.seawindsfh.com.
