Obituary

Alfred C. Drew, Jr. (Al) 86 passed away January 3, 2025 at Cleveland Clinic-Indian River Hospital.

He was born  to Alfred C. and Louise Mullen Drew (deceased) on October 9, 1938 in Somerville, MA and resided in the Dorchester section of Boston.

After graduating from Jamaica Plains High School, Al attended the University of Massachusetts (Amherst) receiving an Associate's degree in Science. He later attended Western New England College majoring in business administration.

Mr.  Drew was a Paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division and the 77th Special Forces. He was also a disabled Vietnam Era Veteran.

After the service, Al was a field representative for the New England Milk Producers Association from 1961 until 1970. He then owned and managed the McManus Restaurant in Amherst, MA and later purchased The Ye Ol Watering Hole Restaurant and Lounge in Northampton, MA. Al retired to Florida in 1989 and was in real estate and plastic injection molding until retiring once again in 2001. He and his late wife Nancy managed the Sea Spray Gardens Motel in Vero Beach until 2007.

Al was active in many civic and charitable organizations including The Junior Chamber of Commerce (Jaycees) in Amherst and the State of Massachusetts; was awarded the honor of Senator #6951 with The International Jaycees and also The Disabled American Veterans; was past president of the Jimmy Fund Council of Western Massachusetts and The Western Massachusetts Darts Association and active in the Masons, Shriners and both state and local politics.

Al was preceded in death by his beloved wife Nancy in 2003; his brother Kenneth and sister-in-law Elaine Drew.

Al leaves his four children, sons Dennis Drew, and Edward Drew (Lisa) of Belchertown, MA; daughter Karen Dulude of Barre, MA and his son Kevin Drew of Port Orange, FL; three grandchildren, AJ Dulude, Travis Drew and Brittany Valley and two great-grandchildren.

He also leaves his former wife Claudette Petruzzi of Easthampton, MA.

A celebration of Al's life will be held in Vero Beach, FL and in Belchertown, MA at a later date.

Those who knew Al will fondly recall his integrity, friendliness and his generosity. He will be sorely missed by his family, friends and his associates.
