Alice W. Ward, 100, of Vero Beach, Florida died Thursday, June 27, 2013 at Willowbrooke Court at Indian River Estates.
She was born March 25, 1913 in Bellwood, PA to Clarence and Edna Williamson. She grew up in Shaker Heights, OH and raised her family in Marion, OH before moving to Vero Beach 37 years ago.
Mrs. Ward was a member of First Presbyterian Church and the Moorings Country Club both of Vero Beach. She was an avid golfer and bridge player. She was known for repeatedly bidding 3 No Trump and consistently making the bid.
She is survived by her son, Wendell B. Ward, Jr. of Miami, FL; daughter, Constance W. Herr of Vero Beach; brother-in-law, Carl E. Ward of Vero Beach; grandchildren, Sarah Hollenbeck of Houston, TX, Hilary Walsh of London, England and Adam Ward of San Jose, CA; great-grandchildren, Emily and David Hollenbeck, Aiden and Ryder Walsh.
She was predeceased by her husband, Wendell Ward; sisters, Anna Jane Denzel and Sally Blake and grandson, Captain David R. Herr, Jr, USMC.
A private inurnment will take place as First Presbyterian Church at a later date.
