Allison S. Baier

Loving Mother, Loyal Wife, Tireless Caretaker

September 17, 1961 – June 17, 2026

Who is Allison Baier? There are not enough pages nor ink in the world to adequately paint a portrait of the person we knew. Here is but a glimpse:

Allison was born on September 17, 1961 in Plainfield, New Jersey to Joesph and Alice Kochie. She had two much older brothers: Paul and Joseph. Allison grew up in Dunellen, New Jersey, Graduated Dunellen High School in 1979 (go Destroyers!) where she was active in the Drama Club and was on the Flag Squad.

Allison and Larry met on May 31, 1981 at the house of a mutual friend. Larry and Allison exchanged vows on May 31, 1986. Allison received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Kean University in 1984. Allison would be the first to admit that book smarts was not her strong suit. But street smarts: oh yes. Early in our marriage we had made, what was for us, a pricey purchase at Sears. The item went on sale a week later. We went to Sears with receipt in hand for an adjustment, only to be told: “you need to bring the item back.” I was dejected; not wanting to go all the way home to retrieve the item and return to the store. Allison said, “ You idiot!” (I think her pet name for me). “Buy the item here at the sale price and return it with the full price receipt!” Brilliant!

Allison has two sons: Nicholas (6/22/91) and Christopher (3/1/94). Allison was fiercely protective of us: like a lioness over her cubs. (Chris:) She was the best mother I could ever ask for always looking after us, especially me being the younger and born with a hearing impairment. My mother was always there for me: every step of the way of my education all the way from preschool up to and including college. Every grade and even so far as every single class I took, she intervened with the administration and made sure I was provided with an equal opportunity to learn.

(Nick:) There can be no questions about how deeply my mother cared for us. She stood up for me in difficult moments when I couldn’t stand up for myself. When I cut off another vehicle as a beginner driver, she didn’t yell at me she yelled at the other driver when he confronted us. When I played with matches and lit the backyard on fire as a child, she called out to me to make sure I was okay and the sound of her voice in the moment still resonates with me today. It was one of many moments that reminded me how important to her we all were. She made sure I knew I was loved and made sure I knew I mattered. She loved us unconditionally and unequivocally even when times were tough. We were her world, and she would go to battle for us no matter what.

While raising two sons, Allison cared for her aging parents. When they passed in 2001 and 2008, they died in her loving care, and the comfort of her arms, in our home in Jackson, New Jersey.

Allison was brutally honest at times: some would say blunt. You knew where you stood with her. But then it was over. She was a forgiving person, quick to put her grievances behind. Allison was creative. She cut and styled her own hair. She enjoyed doing high end catering trays and fruit baskets as a profession. Later she put those talents to work in retailing. Whatever the task or job Allison was 100 percent committed, demanding perfection from herself and others (yes she’s a Virgo). Lastly, Allison is likely a big part of why Amazon is now a trillion-dollar company. The girl loved to shop at the river (and other places). She wasn’t one to follow a trend. She created her own style. Uniquely: Allison.

To be sure, Allison wasn’t perfect (she was left-handed). None of us are. But Allison was perfect in all her imperfections. She left us too soon, but we suppose her work here was finished. She will be missed dearly and loved eternally. We know that Allison is flying with the rest of the angels right now. And to us, she is the most beautiful angel of all. Now you know a little bit about Allison.
