Alma (Pirhonen) Higgins, 89 of Barefoot Bay, FL passed away Monday, March 23, 2009 at Stillwaters ALF in Palm Bay, FL.
She was born March 15, 1920 in Houghton, MI and was a resident of Barefoot Bay for 10 years, coming from Gainesville, FL.
Mrs. Higgins was a registered nurse, comforted people throughout her life in their most trying times. Her professional skills made others realize that their surgery, malady or end of life need not be so frightening and was a member of the Nurses Association.
Survivors include her daughters Nancy Sidwell of Barefoot Bay, FL, Christine Higgins of Virginia Beach, VA, Kathleen Jones of Columbus, OH; son John Higgins of Sparta, TN and 8 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of more than 60 years, Raymond Higgins, who died May 27, 2007.
