Angela Catherine "Angie" Zissel, 44, of Vero Beach, Florida passed peacefully with family at her side on January 7, 2019.

Angie was born on October 14, 1974, in Fort Worth, Texas to Felton and Mary Catherine Havins. She spent most of her childhood in Kerrville, Texas and relocated to Florida in 2003.

Angie is survived by her husband, Jonathan, and daughter, Cassidy Marie; her parents, Felton and Mary Catherine of Savannah, Georgia; her brother, Christian of Austin, Texas; her sister, Holly, brother-in-law, Phil, and their children, Evelyn and Charlie, of Charleston, South Carolina; and her sister, Leslie, and brother-in-law, Russ, of Nashville, Tennessee.

Angie and Jonathan were married in June of 2008 on Harbour Island in the Bahamas and welcomed daughter Cassidy in July of 2014.

Angie graduated from the University of North Texas with a bachelor's degree in education and taught in Texas for several years prior to relocating to Florida. In Vero Beach, Angie taught at the Imagine School, St. Edward's School, Vero Beach Elementary, Citrus Elementary and Storm Grove Middle School.  During this time, Angie also earned a master's degree in mental health and counseling from Webster University. Her teaching prowess was recognized in 2015 by the Florida Department of Education who acknowledged Angie as being in the top 5 percent of Florida Teachers based on her students' test scores over a three-year period.

Angie will be sorely missed and fondly remembered by her many friends and family and a legion of former students who benefitted from their experiences in her classrooms. She was loved dearly by Jonathan's family and adored by her four nieces and nephews, Olivia, Lucy, Bobby and Vaughn.

In lieu of flowers, a college fund has been set up for Cassidy. Donations may be designated for the account of Cassidy Zissel and sent to the PNC Bank at 1700 Highway A1A, Vero Beach, FL 32963.

A Celebration of Angie's life will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2019, from 2- 4 p.m. at Cox Gifford Seawinds Funeral Home, 1950 20 ^th Street in Vero Beach. Anyone wishing to send the family a message or share a story is asked to visit Angie's Memorial Page at www.coxgiffordseawinds.com .
