Anne Carroll Cunningham, 80, died August 23, 2012 at her home. She was born in Syracuse, NY on April 5, 1932 to her parents Mildred and Ernest Watts. She graduated from Oswego High School and State University of New York at Utica.
She was married to Captain James A. Carroll USMC in 1959 and divorced in 1962.
She met Hugh Gilbert Cunningham in 1963. They were married that year in Princeton, NJ where their son Peter Holland Cunningham was born.
Her numerous careers before retirement in 1997 included bank trust officer, insurance company administrator , editor of a weekly newspaper, and finally, a real estate administrator and broker.
She and Hugh retired to Vero Beach where she took up watercolor painting. She was a member of the Vero Beach Art Club and the American Association of University Women. Her paintings earned national awards.
She is survived by her husband Hugh. In addition, she is survived by son Peter, his wife Sharon, and their two children, Colin and Holland, all of Leesburg, VA. She is also survived by her daughter Lee Cunningham Gardner, husband Jim, and granddaughter Megan, all of Banderas, TX. She is also survived by her granddaughter Katherine Lee of Eastham, MA.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her son, Patrick Arthur Carroll.
A gathering to be held at 2pm and services at 3pm on Friday, August 24, 2012 at Cox Gifford Seawinds Funeral Home located at 1950 20th Street in Vero Beach.
