AnnMarie Hamel (Oliver)

October 7, 1951 - December 25, 2022

AnnMarie Hamel, 71, died peacefully in Vero Beach, FL, surrounded by her loved ones after suffering from long-term illnesses.

AnnMarie is survived by her loving son and his wife, Andrew and Alissa Hamel of Sebastian, FL; her daughter and son-in-law, Angela Hamel and Ashraf Elswefy and their daughters Ayah and Alaina Hassan all of Thornton, CO; along with her sister Margo Oliver of Denver, CO; and several cousins and their families.

AnnMarie was born in Fall River, MA to the late Dorothy and Joseph Oliver. She graduated Warren High School, class of 1969, and she was also a graduate of the Rhode Island School of Beauticians. AnnMarie was employed throughout the years in both the health care and hospitality fields. She began her career working as a health care aide at the Grace Barker Nursing Home in Warren, RI. After moving to Vero Beach, FL in 1986, she touched the lives of many children in school cafeterias as a prep cook, baker and server, in the Indian River County public school system.

AnnMarie's family, near and far, would like to take the time to express their sincere gratitude to Paulina and Demetrio (Antonio) Cruz, along with their daughter Jesiah, for their unwavering love and support. Paulina started as her caretaker, then a friendship blossomed, and she became an extended part of the family. We will forever be grateful to you all.

There will be an open house to honor her memory at her son's home for those who would like to pay their respects. Check Andrew and Alissa's social media for details.

AnnMarie will be laid to rest in Massachusetts this summer when family and friends can gather; arrangements for the memorial are forthcoming.
