Obituary

Anthony W. Angelastro, known affectionately as "Tony," passed away on April 23, 2026, in Vero Beach, Florida, one day after his 97th birthday. Born on April 22, 1929, in Hartford, Connecticut, to the late Anthony and Vincenza Angelastro, Tony lived a life marked by dignity, devotion, and an extraordinary ability to connect with those around him.

Tony grew up in the south end of Hartford and graduated from Bulkeley High School in 1948 and Trinity College in 1952. He served his country with distinction in the United States Navy from 1953 until his honorable discharge in 1964, having achieved the rank of Lieutenant. While serving in the Air Anti-submarine Squadron, Tony and his unit were recognized for the successful recovery of a downed jet undergoing a training mission over the Atlantic Ocean, a rescue operation that saved the lives of the jet's two co-pilots.

Following his military service, Tony built a long and distinguished 35-year career as Vice President of Sales for the Richard Grieco Company. A consummate professional, he developed strong business relationships and lasting friendships across New York, New Jersey, and all of New England.

Tony and his beloved wife, Linda, lived in Canton, Connecticut, before relocating to Vero Beach, where they resided at the Villas of Citrus Springs and later at The Brennity at Vero Beach. In both Canton and Vero Beach, Tony served on condominium association boards, proving instrumental in addressing community matters. He was deeply sociable, always impeccably presented, and took great pride in building friendships wherever he went. In Vero Beach, he cultivated a loyal group of friends with whom he walked four miles daily through Riverside Park.

A devoted husband and father, Tony took genuine interest in the lives of his grandchildren, always wanting to know what was happening in their world. He was an avid sports fan who closely followed UConn men's and women's basketball, enjoyed good food, and kept well informed on current events. He also cherished returning to Trinity College for reunions to greet fellow classmates.

Tony is survived by his loving wife, Linda Angelastro; his daughters, Susan Angelastro and Lynn Carr; his sister, Jeannie; his former wife Arlene Angelastro and his extended family, including sons-in-law Jim Carr and Robert Hodakowski, his grandsons Neal Carr and Henry

Carr; his niece Donna Hewitt; his step-children Bari Walsh, Tucker Walsh, and Clint Walsh. He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Vincenza and his sisters Camille, Mary, and Angie. May he rest in God's eternal peace.

Tony's family would like to offer their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at The Brennity at Vero Beach for the many years of kindness and friendship extended to Tony.
