Anthony J. Bonvetti, Sr., known to many as "Duke", passed away early on October 27, 2014 at his home in Vero Beach, Florida. He was 87 years of age.

Born May 9, 1927, in Wilmington, he served in the U.S. Army in WW2, and then enjoyed a long career as a carpenter and custom home builder.

He is survived by his wife of 76 years, Theresa M. (nee O'Brien) Bonvetti, 5 children - Kathleen Hartman (Dennis) of The Villages, FL, Marie Grieves (Philip) of Portsmouth, England, Anthony J. Bonvetti, Jr. (Vicki) of Bear, DE, Angeline Bonvetti of Vero Beach, FL, and Joseph Bonvetti (Tracie) of Pennsville, NJ. He and Theresa have 12 grandchildren as well as 12 great-grandchildren. Duke is also survived by his younger brother, Dominic Bonvetti of Wilmington, DE.

Duke was a longtime member of The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, and was a Past Exalted Ruler, named Elk of the Year in 1991/1992 at Lodge 307 in Wilmington, DE. He was also a former member of the John Basilone Lodge of the Order of the Sons of Italy.

Duke will be interned at Cathedral Cemetery in Wilmington, DE on November 3, 2014. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be sent to VNA Hospice 1110 35th Lane, Vero Beach, FL. 32960.
