Obituary

Arthur (Art) Scheeren, 81 of Micco died March 26, 2009 at William Childs Hospice House in Palm Bay.
He was born in Bronx, NY and lived in Micco for 10 years coming from Miami. He served in the US Navy during WWII. He was a 20 years veteran of the City of Miami Police Dept. Working both the K-9 and Homicide divisions.
He was a member of the VFW, American Legion, Masons and a lifetime member of the Elks Lodge # 2714, served as Exalted Ruler, a State Trustee for the Fraternal Order of Police and Miami Police Veterans Association. With 35+ years in Police work and investigations, he carried some into retirement. He worked as a Bailiff, Investigator for the Public Defenders office, Certified Customs Inspector, worked on the Public Safety Commission and volunteered for the Crisis Line for Mental Health.
Devoted to his family, friends and church, he will be missed by all. A big man of few words, loved beyond compare.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Bernice Scheeren, son Steven Scheeren of Miami, FL and daughter Linda Scheeren of Sebastian, FL.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM, Thursday, April 2, 2009 at Micco Community Church, 9390 Central Ave, Micco. There will be a reception in the church hall following the service. Those that wish can make a donation in his name to William Childs Hospice House, 381 Medplex Pkwy, Palm Bay, FL 32907.
