Barbara Welch Atkinson, 68, of Vero Beach, FL died Tuesday, April 1, 2008 at the Indian River Medical Center in Vero Beach.
Barbara was born August 28, 1939 in Lowell, MA, raised in West Palm Beach, FL, and moved to Vero Beach 36 years ago from New Orleans, LA.
She was a graduate of St. Vincents School of Nursing in Jacksonville, FL and had worked as an Operating Room Nurse at the Indian River Medical Center. Mrs. Atkinson was an active parishioner at St Helen Catholic Church in Vero Beach.
Survivors include her husband of 46 years Jesse W. Atkinson of Vero Beach; son Jesse W. Atkinson of New Orleans, LA; daughters Mary Beth Pisano of Rome, NY, Michelle Papa of Bradenton, FL and Amy Henry of Denver, CO; brother Dr. Richard B. Welch of San Francisco, CA and nine grandchildren.
Services: The family will receive friends 6-9 PM, Friday, April 4, 2008 at the Cox-Gifford-Seawinds Funeral Home in Vero Beach. A Mass will be celebrated 10 AM, Saturday, April 5, 2008 at St. Helen Catholic Church in Vero Beach. Interment will be at Crestlawn Cemetery in Vero Beach.
