Barbara L. Greenlees' Obituary
Barbara L. ("Bobbie") Greenlees, 94, of Vero Beach passed away on Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at the VNA Hospice House in Vero Beach.
Mrs. Greenlees was born Barbara Louise Brandt on June 4, 1918 in East Orange, NJ. She resided in West Orange, Maplewood, New Providence, and Mendham, NJ before moving to Vero Beach in 1984.
In 2003 Mrs. Greenlees received The Ted Brown Award, an award given annually by the Taxpayers' Association of Indian River County (TPAIRC) for lifetime volunteerism. Bobbie had served on TPAIRC's board of directors for many years and was active on the scholarship committee. She also served as President and administrator of Literacy Services of Indian River County in 1990-91, when the organization succeeded in securing its first full-time office space, at the Indian River County Main Library.
Bobbie was also a 25-year volunteer with the Indian River Medical Center Auxiliary, which she served primarily in the Reception, Escort, and Courier Service. During those years she clocked over 3,500 volunteer hours, in later years interviewing and orienting volunteer applicants. Bobbie stepped down from service at IRMC when she was 92.
Survivors include her daughters, Bailey Cronin of Savannah, GA; Linda Cooke of Georgetown, TX; and Wendy Campbell of Fort Collins, CO; and her two granddaughters Evelynne Blatt of Easton, PA and Katherine Campbell Deglans of Arlington, VA.
Bobbie was preceded in death by her husband Charles R. Greenlees and by her husband Noel York Rothmayer.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at the Lakes at Pointe West at 3:30 p.m. on the afternoon of Saturday, December 8, 2012. All are most welcome. To confirm the time of the service and any arrangements, or to send online condolences, see www.coxgiffordseawinds.com. Arrangements are under the direction of Cox-Gifford Seawinds Funeral Home and Crematory in Vero Beach, FL.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the VNA Hospice House, 901 37th Street, Vero Beach, FL 32960 in memory of Barbara L. Greenlees.
