Obit: Barbara K. Merrill

Barbara K. Merrill, 93, of Vero Beach, FL died Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at the VNA Hospice House in Vero Beach.

Mrs. Merrill was born August 20, 1918 in Portland, ME. She and her husband, the late William Merrill, lived in Portland until 1960, moving to Longmeadow, MA, then to Sebago Lake, ME upon his retirement in 1983, settling in Vero Beach in 1987.

She graduated from Colby Junior College and Russell Sage College with a BS in Business. During WWII she was employed at William Filene's Sons in Boston, MA.

Survivors include her daughter Betsy (Jerry) Nelsen of Vero Beach; three sons Scott (Lynda) Merrill of Long Beach, CA, Bill (Bonnie) Merrill of Vero Beach and Craig (Karen) Merrill of Vero Beach; a sister Nancy Moore of Green Valley, AZ; a brother Chester (Dot) Knowles of Scarboro, ME; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband William Merrill and her parents Chester and Marguerite Knowles Merrill.

Services: Interment will be at South Florida National Cemetery in Lake Worth, FL.
