Obituary

Beatrice Betty Sargent Pyper, 82, of Vero Beach, FL passed away Thursday, July 17, 2008 at the Indian River Medical Center in Vero Beach. Betty was born May 28, 1926 in Ayer, MA to Ralph and Marjorie Moison Sargent. She had lived in Groton, MA, Mt. Hermon, MA, Ann Arbor, MI, Galesburg, IL, and Northfield and Springfield, VT before moving to Vero Beach 11 years ago from South Hero, VT. A devoted wife and mother, Betty performed volunteer work with many organizations including The Northfield Red Mitten, co-author, editor and publisher of the Northfield Cookbook, taught cake decorating and served as Welcome Wagon Hostess for eight years among may other endeavors. Betty also enjoyed may activities from skiing, square dancing, knitting, sailing, fishing, bridge and other interests. She was a member of the Community Church of Vero Beach and the Scottish Society of the Treasure Coast.
Survivors include her husband of 62 years Gordon R. Pyper, sons Dexter Gordon Pyper of Vero Beach and Timothy Stewart Pyper, and his wife Sallie, of Burlington, VT, daughter Donna Marjorie Schipke of Wyckoff, NJ, and grandchildren Ashtin Dubuque, Frederick Schipke, III and Chelcie Schipke all of New Jersey, and Anthony R. Pyper of Vermont.
A memorial celebration will take place at the Grace Chapel of the Community Church in Vero Beach in the fall of this year. Inurnment will be in Vermont the following summer.
