Bernice Barcelona, 87, died peacefully at the Hospice of Vero Beach on Saturday, August 8, 2014
She was a longtime resident of Vero Beach, having moved to Vero with her family in 1952 from New Jersey. She was preceded in death by her husband Anthony Barcelona, her parents, Rudy and Irene Saak, and her brother Rudy Saak, Jr.
She is survived by her sister, Georgetta Rhodes of Vero Beach, three sons. Terry Barcelona, and wife Peggy, of Mauldin, South Carolina, Richard Barcelona of Vero Beach, and Anthony Barcelona and wife Terri of Vero Beach; one daughter Irene Moore, and husband Dr. Robert Moore of Vero Beach; and two granddaughters, Debbie Walker, and Sydney Barcelona, also of Vero Beach
She was an active member of her church, the Westminster Presbyterian Church, until she suffered a stroke approximately 10 years ago, which caused her health to start failing. She enjoyed life until the end by remaining at home and giving attention to her rescue dog, Chico.
As per her wishes, there was not a public funeral. Her ashes will be distributed over the Atlantic Ocean at a future date by her family.
Instead of flowers, the family request donations be made in her name to the VNA Hospice House of Vero Beach
