Betty Joan Fletcher

July 21, 1930-January 20, 2026

Betty Joan Fletcher, 95 of Vero Beach, FL., formerly of Beavercreek, OH, passed away Tuesday January 20,2026, at Sonata Assisted Living in Vero Beach.

She was born July 21, 1930, in Xenia, OH, the daughter of Fred and Alma Fugate.  She is survived by her daughter Lyn Smith and her husband Brad; and one grandson, Bennett Smith and his wife (Elsebeth) and her great granddaughter Janie, of Vero Beach, FL. She is predeceased by her husband Donald of seventy years, and sisters Peggy Harrison and Wanda Noggle.

Joan graduated from Wilmington College in Wilmington, OH with a bachelor's degree in education.  Joan taught first and second grade at Fairbrook Elementary for the Beavercreek City Schools, Beavercreek, OH for over thirty years.

Upon retirement Joan and Donald moved to Vero Beach to be closer to their daughter and her family. They enjoyed traveling including multiple cruises. They enjoyed several years residing in the Spanish Lakes Community in Ft. Pierce, FL. It was there that she enjoyed playing golf daily.

She was an avid crossword solver.

A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, February 9, 2026, at First Presbyterian Church, 520 Royal Palm Boulevard, Vero Beach, FL at 11AM.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church Dr. Fred McClellan Scholarship Fund.
