Obituary

Billy Leonard Runyon, 80, of Vero Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully in his sleep on November 25, 2025.

Born in Pinsonfork, Kentucky on March 23, 1945, Billy moved to Vero Beach at the age of 15 to help his family build and grow their trailer park—an early sign of the hardworking spirit that would define his entire life. He spent his career as a skilled heavy equipment operator, and there was rarely an engine he couldn't fix. Friends and family knew that if something ran on fuel or four wheels, Bill could make it run better.

Bill was devoted to his wife of 57 years, Mary Runyon, who preceded him in death on November 25, 2024. Their life together was filled with love, perseverance, and deep loyalty.

Better know as Papa by his family, he is survived by his children Michael (Stacy), Elizabeth (Paul), Jonathan (Andria) and Taylor; his beloved grandchildren Beth (Will), Grace-Lynn, Emily, Nila, Nick, Jordyn, Ellie, and Emma; and his great-grandchildren Irelia and Jaxon, who brought him tremendous joy.

Bill had a passion for NASCAR, a lifelong love of working on cars, and a profound patriotism that shone through in his words and actions. He was a man who took pride in doing things the right way, who cherished his family fiercely, and who left an impact on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Bill's legacy lives on in the family he adored and in the countless lives he touched with his generosity, humor, and steady presence.

A celebration of life will be held at New Hope Ministries 4425 71st St., Vero Beach, FL 23967 on December 16, 2025 at1:30pm.
