Bruce Anderson, 84, of Vero Beach, died Tuesday, October 11 with family by his side.

He was born in Winnipeg, Canada on April 30, 1932 to Stanley and Nora Anderson, his family moved to Rochester, NY where he grew up spending summers on Canandaigua Lake and developed his love for sailing. Bruce attended The Ohio State University but left to serve in the US Army. After his service, he returned and completed his BS in Engineering. Later he received an MBA from University Colorado - Boulder. He married Muriel (Mert) Anderson in 1959 and raised their family in New Jersey until they moved to Gulf Stream, Florida in 1991.

Bruce spent most of his working career with Bell Labs and AT&T until his retirement and their move to FL, where he went back to school and received a teaching certificate. He taught High School and enjoyed meeting students as incoming freshman in Earth Science, and then seeing them again as seniors in Physics.

Bruce was an avid sailor, enjoyed tennis and an occasional round of golf. He is survived by his wife, Muriel, two brothers, his children and numerous grandchildren. A Celebration of Bruce's life is planned for the spring.
