Carl Calvin Smart, age 87, of Vero Beach, FL passed away on Tuesday, April 11, 2017, at VNA Hospice House. He was a longtime resident of Fort Lauderdale and a member of First Christian Church in Wilton Manors before moving to Vero Beach in 2016.

Carl was born in Cleveland County, N.C. to the late Carl and Ethel Smart. He proudly served in the United States Army during World War II where he served in the USO Entertainment group. He owned and operated Carl Smart Nursery. Carl married the love of his life, Mary Lowery, on July 13, 1951.
Carl is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Mary and daughter Kemberly Martin.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, April 17, 2017 at 2PM at Lauderdale Memorial Park in Fort Lauderdale, FL. In leu of flowers donations may be sent to the VNA Hospice House in Vero Beach at 1110 35th Lane, Vero Beach, FL 32960.
