Obituary

Carole Anthony Aurelia, of Vero Beach FL and Stratford, CT left us on August 4, 2019. Carole was the beloved and adored daughter of Vincent Anthony and Lena (Sparano) Anthony, of Fairfield, CT and Vero Beach, FL. Carole was born on September 20, 1937, and raised in Fairfield County. She graduated from the Academy of the Holy Family, in Baltic CT, where she refined an enduring faith and many life-long friendships. She was also a member of Black Rock Church, Fairfield, CT for some three decades.

Carole was an avid skier enjoying the slopes of Aspen and the Swiss Alps with her then-husband Salvador F. Aurelia, Jr. She continued adventures abroad, cruises, and an un-ending list of Broadway and Off-Broadway productions. A devote mother, she dedicated her life to her five children, Vincent Aurelia, Bridgeport, CT, Salvador Aurelia III, Stratford, CT, Elizabeth Aurelia, Vero Beach, FL, Amy Aurelia Hoffman, Stratford, CT, and Christopher J. Aurelia, Stratford, CT, as well as, her four grandchildren Sandra Aurelia, New Haven, CT,  Salvador Aurelia IV, New Haven CT, Christopher Hoffman Cioffi and his daughter Scarlett,  Bridgeport, CT, and Jennifer Hoffman, Seymore CT.

Carole enjoyed an enduring career with the Bic Corporation of Milford, CT, where she spent some 27 years, before retiring in 2001.  Amongst Carole's many fine and endearing qualities, Carole possessed a sharp wit and humor, for which she will be remembered, as well as a huge heart and boundless generosity. She was said to have a gift for conversation and was unpretentious, having many friendships from all walks of life, always seeing the person, and not the position. In turn, she was surrounded by laughter and love.

Carole was born the fourth of seven children. Her passing has left a void in our hearts. Words are inadequate to express how deeply we adored our mother, admired her integrity, and respected her honest and selfless spirit.

A beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and aunt, survivors include siblings Julie Catandella , of Vero Beach, FL, Arlene Norling and her husband David Norling , of Madison, CT, and Sandra Benway , of Vero Beach, FL. She was preceded in death by her parents, Vincent and Lena Anthony, siblings Barbara Walz , Vero Beach, FL, Richard Anthony, Fairfield , CT, Gary Anthony, Vero Beach, FL, and daughter-in-law Sharon Aurelia (Salvador's wife). She is also survived by a large extended family of great-nieces and nephews, cousins, and many close and dear friends.

While our hearts are broken as we say goodbye to our beloved mother, she has been called to spend eternity making laughter and watching children at play, while surrounded by warmth and love.
