Catherine Gloria Conway, 95, of Vero Beach, died on March 15, 2021. She was born and raised in New York City. After the end of World War II she married Edward Conway whom she had known since she was 13 years old. In 1954, she moved with her family to the Philippine Islands where they lived for 8 years. They returned to New York and spent summers on Candlewood Lake, Connecticut until her husband retired to Boynton Beach in 1978. After his death she moved to Vero Beach to be closer to her family.
Wherever she resided, Catherine made many friends.
She was well known in the community for her custom tailoring and alterations.
She had a great sense of humor, a love of dark chocolate and bourbon old fashioneds, and a life long love of dancing. She was a competitive duplicate bridge player and loved games of all types. She was an active member of Holy Cross Catholic Church where she was the Women's Guild Historian due to her love of photography.
She is survived by her son, Edward Conway DDS and his wife Suzanne of Vero Beach; daughter, Maureen Conway and her husband, Dennis Surprenant of Vero Beach; grandchildren, Meghan Cilley, Ian Peebles, Sarah Kate Mavrak, Caroline Sanders, Tillery Conway and a great-granddaughter, Reese Cilley.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday April 6, 2021 at 10 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to VNA & Hospice Foundation
