Charles Starcevich of Vero Beach, Florida, died on April 17, 2025, at the age of 101.
Charles was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 76 years, Virginia Marion. He leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish his memory: his children, Jack D. Starcevich (Bobbie) of Hot Springs Village, AR; Reg Heisel of Pekin, IL; and Patricia Velde (Gary) of Vero Beach, FL; his grandchildren, Lori Heisel of Pekin, IL; Bret Velde (Cara) of Sparta, TN; Tim Velde (Jodi) of Vero Beach, FL; and Steve Heisel of Pekin, IL; his great-grandchildren, Hannah Velde of Burbank, CA; Emma Smith (Mason) of Burbank, CA; Grant Velde and Tucker Velde of Sparta, TN; and Ashley Jones (Brock) of Deer Creek, IL; and his great-great-grandchildren, twins Avery and Logan Jones.
He is also survived by Laren Parkerson (Brandon) and Natalie Velde, both of Vero Beach, FL.
Charles proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy during World War II in both the European and Pacific Theatres. Following his service, he dedicated his career to working as a pipefitter in the nuclear power plant industry, where he was known for his strong work ethic and technical skill. He was a member of Saint John of the Cross Catholic Church in Vero Beach where he served as a Eucharistic Minister.
Above all else, Charles valued family. He lived a long and healthy life rooted in love, resilience, and integrity—leaving behind a legacy of devotion and strength.
Details regarding a memorial service will be shared with family and friends at a later date. Interment will be at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in Pekin, IL.
Cox Gifford Seawinds Funeral Home in Vero Beach is entrusted with arrangements.
