Obituary

Charles W. Cox, 104, of Vero Beach, FL, passed away on Friday, January 23, 2015.

Charlie was a native of Mississippi. He was a Veteran of the United States Navy serving in the naval construction battalion known as the Seabees during World War II. Charlie was the oldest Veteran of Indian River County at the time of his passing. He was instrumental in helping develop veteran programs here in Indian River County and was one of the original founders of the Habitat for Humanity in our local area. He was a member of the Mason and Shriner as well..

Charlie is survived by his loving wife, Basilisa; three step-daughters, Gina Moyer, Marfe Westerfeild and Pia Fleck; 6 grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 29, 2015 from 1 pm to 2 pm at Cox Gifford Seawinds Funeral Home in Vero Beach. A celebration of life memorial service will be follow at 2 pm with military honors provided by the local honor guards.

The family suggests that donations be made to the local habitat for humanity or your local veteran organization.
