Charles Ernest Roberts Jr, 89, of Vero Beach died Thursday, June 29, 2012 at the VNA Hospice House.

Mr. Roberts was born February 9, 1923 in Worcester, MA. He had been a resident of Vero Beach for 34 years, coming from Fort Lauderdale.

He served in the United States Marines during WWII in the South Pacific. He was very proud of his military service. He and his wife Lorraine attended over 20 nationwide reunions of the 4th Amphibian Tractor Battalion.

While living in Massachusetts he worked for the New York, New Haven and Hartford Rail Road. After moving to Florida he began a career in sales, which lasted until his retirement.

Charles was of the Catholic faith and attended Saint Helen Catholic Church.

He was a member of the American League.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years Lorraine; sons Charles E. Roberts III of Vero Beach, FL, William A. Roberts of Homestead, FL, and Peter M. Roberts Vero Beach, FL; daughters Sandra L. Roberts of Davie, FL and Amy R. Klemann of Melbourne Beach, FL; brother Frank Roberts of Millbury, MA; 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his sisters Marion, Virginia, Lauraine, Doris and Dorothy.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Veteran's Victory Center at 6200 20th Street, Room 471 Vero Beach, FL 32966.

Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Saint Helen Catholic Church on Friday, July 6, 2012 at 10:00AM. Inurnment will be held at South Florida National Cemetery in Lake Worth.
