Charles E. Flanegan, Sr., 83, of Vero Beach, passed on Saturday, April 06, 2013 at his home.
Mr. Flanegan was born September 9, 1929 in Uniontown, PA. He had been a resident of Vero Beach for twenty years, coming from Georgia.
He retired from the United States Air Force after twenty years of service. In the last six years of his military career he was a member of the 89th Military Airlift Wing at Andrews Air Force Base which supported the Presidential Fleet.
Following his time in the Air Force, Mr. Flanegan owned and operated Flanegan Trucking Company for twenty years.
He was a member and Elder of the Clayton Community Church in Morrow, GA.
He was a member of USPGA, played in several ProAm golf tournaments and won the National Airlines ProAm.
Survivors include his wife of sixty-one years, Pege Lloyd Flanegan; daughter, Pamela McHugh of Indianapolis, IN; sons, Charles "Chip" Flanegan, Jr. of Stockbridge, GA and Kirk Flanegan of Waxhaw, NC; sisters, Nancy McManus of Philadelphia, PA and Carolyn Gray of Uniontown, PA; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at C.J. Cannons Restaurant in Vero Beach.
