Charles Godfrey Fries, III
Charles Godfrey Fries, III, age 66 of Independence, MO passed away at home on March 2, 2013. He was born to Charles G. Fries, Jr. and Grace (Rogers) Fries on December 27, 1946 in Philadelphia, PA. He leaves behind his wife, Nancy May (Tomenga) Fries; son, Aaron G. Fries; daughter, Abish E. Lucker; grandchildren, Serenity and Bobby; his mother, Grace Fries; sister, Judith Cawley (Raymond); brother, William Fries (Eileen); nieces, nephews, cousins and caring friends.
He has shared responsibilities and friendships while being a part of The Church of Jesus Christ, The Lamb of God; the 19th Light Infantry Brigade, 17th Calvary, F Troop in Vietnam (1967-1968); The National Association of Insurance Commissioners as a computer systems administrator for which he relocated from Philadelphia, PA and from which he retired January 4, 2013; The Greater Kansas City S Gaugers; and the national and local French Bull Dog Clubs.
Charles was known among his friends as a computer genius. He was an avid collector of American Flyer and other "S" gauge model trains. He passionately followed our nation's Space Exploration Program, and also enjoyed science fiction, including penning numerous "Star Trek" short stories.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles, Jr.
At the request of the family, there will be no services.
