Charles E. Hills, 91, of Vero Beach, FL died Sunday, April 6, 2008 at the Indian River Estates Medical Center in Vero Beach.
Mr. Hills was born July 13, 1916 in East Hartford, CT and moved to Vero Beach in 1996 from Glastonbury, CT.
He was a graduate of the Loomis School in 1934, Amherst College in 1938 and received two masters degrees from Trinity College. He worked for the State of Connecticut for many years retiring as Director of Economic Development in the Department Of Commerce. He was also on the adjunct faculty of the University of Hartford where he taught classes in state government. He was a Eucharistic Minister and Lector for many years at the St. Lucie Catholic Church in Port St. Lucie and was a Lector for several years at St. James Catholic Church in Rocky Hill, CT.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years Mary Hogan Hills of Vero Beach, a son Michael Hills of Willington, CT; a daughter Gloria Hills Marion of Putnam, CT, eleven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his brother Robert, who died while serving in the U.S. Navy during WW II. and a sister W. Ruth Hills of South Windsor, CT
Services: A Mass will be celebrated at St. John of the Cross Catholic Church in Vero Beach at a later date.
