Cheryl Smith Barkwell passed away March 15, 2012, at the VNA Hospice House in Vero Beach. She was born in Corbin, KY, and moved to Vero Beach 1959. She was a graduate of Indian River State College, attended the University of Florida, and graduated from the University of West Florida. Life took her to many different cities across the country and she returned to Vero Beach in 1995 and she became a realtor and owner of Venture One Realty. She attended Pillar Community Church, and was a member of the Indian River Association of Realtors.

She is survived by her husband Gene Barkwell; son, John Paul Barkwell and granddaughters Amanda and Alyssa Barkwell of Laguna, CA; brother, Dan Smith (Estelle) of Vero Beach. She was preceded in death by her mother, Faye W. Begley and stepfather Thomas J. Begley.

SERVICES: Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Monday, March 19, 2012 at Cox-Gifford-Seawinds Funeral Home and Crematory, Vero Beach and a funeral at the same location on Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at 11:00 AM.
