Christopher C. Mason, 53, passed away on Sept.21, 2013 at Indian River Medical Center.

Chris was born August 31, 1960 in Coral Gables, FL and was a lifetime resident of Vero Beach. He graduated from Vero Beach High School in 1978 and later attended Hobart Brothers Company Welding School, where he became a certified welder. He was further certified as an Underwater Commercial Diver by Divers Training Academy, Linkport in Ft. Pierce, FL. He was employed as a welder in Florida as well as other states and in Martinique. He also worked in various capacities in the citrus industry in Indian River County. He was last employed at Ocean Reefs Aquariums, a division of Harbor Branch, Ft. Pierce. Chris especially enjoyed diving during lobster season.

He is survived by his mother, Elizabeth Hansen Mason and his brother, James Mason, Jr. both of Vero Beach. He was predeceased by his father, James R. Mason.

Chris was a lover of animals, especially dogs. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society of Vero Beach, PO Box 644, Vero Beach, FL 32961.

A visitation will be held 9:00-10:00 a.m., Friday, Sept. 27, 2013 followed by a 10a.m. funeral service at Cox Gifford Seawinds Funeral Home & Crematory, Vero Beach. Interment will take place at Crestlawn Cemetery immediately following the funeral service.
