Coreda B. Wallace, 90, of Vero Beach, FL died Sunday, May 23, 2010 at the Indian River Medical Center in Vero Beach.
She was born January 21, 1920 in Indianapolis, Indiana, the second of five children of Leslie A. & Flo M. Smith. She had lived in Vero Beach since 2003, coming from Kansas City, Missouri, Boca Grande/ Dunnellon/Orlando, Florida.
She was widow of F.C. Bud Wallace, a general partner in Black & Veatch Consulting Engineers of Kansas City, Missouri. He was Project Engineer overseeing construction of the Vero Beach Municipal Power Plant, designed by Black & Veatch. Upon completion, power plant was state-of-the-art and was visited by national and international officials as example of a fine steam power plant. Bud was a consulting engineer for Vero Beach Utilities for many years.
Coreda was a mother, homemaker, secretary & parliamentarian. She was active in her church, Boy Scout Mothers Club, auxiliary to Western Chapter of Missouri Society of Professional Engineers, auxiliary to Kansas City Chapter of Mechanical Engineers and Johnson County Young Matrons - a philanthropic club. Mrs. Wallace was a member of National Association of Parliamentarian organizations in Missouri and Florida and was a Professional Registered Parliamentarian.
She is survived by her two sons, James C. Wallace of Duluth, GA and Larry A. Wallace of Olathe, KA, their wives and three grandsons.
Coreda was preceded in death by older brother, Elmer Haldon Smith, three younger sisters, Evelyn Fay Grace, Ila Marie Dey, Shirley Ann Warren, and beloved husband of more than sixty years, F.C. Wallace.
Services: Interment will take place 2:30 PM, Thursday, May 27, 2010 at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL.
