Daniel Anthony Muscara, 89, died July 4, 2012 at Willowbrook Court in Indian River Estates, Vero Beach. Born and raised on Long Island, New York, Daniel's father passed away when he was 13 years old, leaving him and 6 siblings to help support his mother while finishing high school. He enlisted in the US Army Air Force during World War II, where, as navigator on a C-47, he participated in missions "flying the hump" over the Himalayas into China.

After the war he attended Hofstra and was married. He founded Wardam Steel, a family-owned-and-run company that provided steel for commercial buildings across Long Island.

He and his wife Alice built a home in Massapequa and raised a family of six children. They relocated to Bayshore, NY later to Stuart in 1979 and then to Vero Beach in 2005. In February they celebrated their 62 wedding anniversary. A life-long, avid golfer, he played golf in Bayshore at Southward Ho and in Stuart, Florida at Mariner Sands.

In addition to his wife Alice, Vero Beach, Daniel is survived by his children Daniel Jr. of Manorville, NY, Ruthann Perry of Lawrenceville, NJ, Mary Beth Schamp of Baltimore, MD, Donna Hobby of Brightwaters, NY, Alice Ireland of West Islip, NY, and William of Bayshore, NY; as well as 11 grandchildren: Christopher and Nicholas Muscara, Kyle Perry, Raymond and Peter Schamp, Sam and Emma Hobby, Colin, Drew and Katelyn Ireland, and Michelle Muscara.

A memorial mass will be held at a later date on Long Island, NY.
