Darwin Smith, 83, of Vero Beach died Saturday, March 31, 2012 at VNA Hospice House in Vero Beach.
Mr. Smith was born January 23, 1929 in Hazard, KY. He had been a resident of Vero Beach since 1979, coming from Whitesburg, KY.
He was a member of the American Legion, VFW , Veterans of Vero, and the Eagles all of Vero Beach, FL.
Mr. Smith served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
Prior to his retirement he was the owner and operator of Baker Maytag Company for many years in Whitesburg, KY.
Survivors include his two step-daughters Susie Day-McGuigan of Venice, FL, Beverly Day Bolling of Spotsylvania, VA; two sisters Freda Brown of Orlando, FL, Hilda Smith of Winter Haven, FL; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife Esta C. Smith.

A Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at Cox-Gifford-Seawinds Funeral Home, Vero Beach, FL with Rev. L.C. Campbell, Jr. Officiating. Burial will follow at Crestlawn Cemetery with military honors.
