David R. Fink Jr., 91, of Vero Beach, passed away on May 6, 2020.
Dr. Fink was born August 31, 1928 in Red Lion, PA. He had been a resident of Vero Beach
since 2001, coming from York, PA.
David was a graduate of Red Lion High School in 1946, and then attended Dartmouth College
where he received his Bachelor's degree in History in 1950. He then attended the University of
Pennsylvania where he earned his Masters, and then his Doctorate degree in Education in
1957.
He worked as an educator and taught at the Fenn School in Concord, MA from 1950-1952. He
then taught at the University of Maine from 1957-1965. He served as Dean and Provost at the
University of Maine in Portland from 1965-1970.
In York, PA he was the Director of Educational Services at York Hospital from 1976-1992. He
served a term as national president of the Alliance for Continuing Medical Education He was a
board member of Planned Parenthood and volunteered for Reading for the Blind.
In Vero Beach he was a member of the volunteer Ambulance Squad, and was a volunteer for
the Friends of the Library Used Book Depot.
Survivors include his wife (since 1950), Barbara Lee Pickens Fink; son, David R Fink III of Vero
Beach, FL; daughter, Julianne F. True of Lewiston, ME; three grandchildren and three great
grandchildren.
