IN LOVING MEMORY OF
David Raymond
Medina
February 3, 1965 – January 27, 2025
David Raymond Medina , Age 59, of Vero Beach, Florida, beloved father and husband, passed away suddenly on Monday, January 27, 2025 due to a sudden cardiac event.
Dave was born on February 3, 1965 in Miami, Florida to William and Evelyn Medina. Dave met the love of his life, Aimi, while working as a lifeguard at Venetian Pool in Coral Gables, Florida. They married in 1993 after Dave completed his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering at The University of Miami. In 1998 they moved to Vero Beach where Dave accepted a job at Piper Aviation. In his 26 years at Piper, Dave worked his way up from Team Leader and Senior Engineer to lead the Powerplant and Mechanical Systems Engineering Division. He was also very proud to have received approval from the Federal Aviation Administration as a Designated Engineering Representative (DER), which authorized him to approve engineering functions on behalf of the FAA.
Dave's greatest joy came from spending time with his boys Drew and Jonny. They created many memories on the water fishing and diving from the Indian River to the Florida Keys. He also volunteered many hours of his time to support the Vero Beach High School band. Both boys followed in his footsteps to become engineers themselves. Dave and Aimi frequently drove up to Gainesville to attend Gator football games while the boys attended the University of Florida.
Dave took on the difficult task of maintaining the family archives and spent many hours digitizing older family movies and photographs. He was the lead planner for many Medina Family Reunions as well. In recent years, Dave became a fan of mountain biking and was President of the Airborne Mountain Bike Club. He and Aimi also have taken up camping and kayaking throughout Florida and Georgia. And of course, he and Aimi could often be found cruising the Indian River lagoon accompanied by their faithful dog, Whiskey.
Dave is survived by wife Aimi, sons Drew and Jonny, daughters-in law Hailey and Sofi, grandson Levi and brothers Bill (Susy) and Mike (Debby). He was preceded in death by his mother Evelyn Medina (Zewe) and father William Medina.
His passing has left a void in the hearts of his family, friends, and many more whose lives were touched by him. We ask that you remember him not for the way his life ended, but for the way it was lived, and for the profound impact it had on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Celebration of Life information will be forthcoming. Recognizing Dave's love of the outdoors, please consider making a donation to Captains for Clean Water, an organization he was passionate about, at www.captainsforcleanwater.org .
If the people we love are stolen from us, the way to have them live on is to never stop loving them. James O'Barr
