David Newman Radabaugh, Sr., 72, died December 10, 2009 at his home.
He was born in Detroit Michigan and grew up in Columbia, Tennessee. He lived in the Vero Beach area for 41 years.
He attended Vanderbilt University, received his Masters of Arts from Tennessee Tech University and was awarded a graduate fellowship at Cornell University. A former educator, he taught at Indian River Community College for 17 years. He was a senior staff member of the Humane Society of Vero Beach & Indian River County, working in the field of animal protection for 14 years.
Survivors include his wife of 22 years Joan Ghnouly Carlson, son David Newman Radabaugh, Jr. and daughter Mary Radabaugh of Stuart, two grandsons and his animal companions Oliver and Olivia.
He is preceded in death by his parents Earl Baxter Radabaugh and Malinda Dee Newman; and his brother Robert Radabaugh.
A memorial service, to be officiated by Reverend Dr. Susan Bubbers will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, December 19, at Cox Gifford Funeral Home in Vero Beach.
