Demetra Panagakos, 94, of Palm Bay, FL, passed away at her residence on August 15, 2018.

Born in Sparta, Greece on December 1, 1923, she came to the United States in 1948 and settled in Washington, DC. In 2015 she relocated to Florida to be near her family.

Demetra's life was dedicated to her family and her community, particularly St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Washington, DC.

Survivors include her beloved daughter Estelle and her beloved granddaughter Demetria. She was predeceased by her husband Peter and children Leo and Vivian.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at Saint Sophia Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 2815 36th Street NW, Washington, DC . That service will be followed at N oon by a graveside service at Fort Lincoln Cemetery, 3401 Bladensburg Road, Brentwood, MD .

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Preserve & Protect Campaign at Saint Sophia Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 2815 36th Street NW, Washington, DC 20007 .
