Derek Christian Paul, 41, of Vero Beach, FL died of cancer at his mother's home with his family by his side on June 28, 2013.

He was born October 7, 1971 in New Rochelle, NY, son of William A. Paul and Therese R. Elliott. He graduated from Vero Beach High School and attended Florida State University. Derek was the Manager of the Vero Beach Pier One Imports.

He was an artist, musician, and avid fisherman. Additionally, Derek was an accomplished amateur photographer with his photos of nature published locally and by The Weather Channel; his true talent was seen in his photos of children including his nieces and nephew.

Derek is survived by his father, William A. Paul of Bath, NY, his mother, Therese R. Elliott of Vero Beach, FL, his brother William A. Paul, Jr. (and his wife Kelly), his sister, Katherine C. Paul, three nieces and his nephew, all of Vero Beach, FL; and his two grandmothers.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 2, 2013 from 5-7 p.m. at the Cox Gifford Seawinds Funeral Home and Crematory in Vero Beach.
