Dominic "Sonny" Schiavi, 79, of Vero Beach entered into eternal life on Thursday, October 25, 2012 at the Indian River Medical Center.

Sonny was born April 15, 1933 in Yonkers, NY. He had been a resident of Vero Beach for 22 years, coming from Westchester County, NY.

He served in the United States Army, and was a veteran of the Korean War.

Prior to his retirement he worked for the Con Edison Company of New York.

He attended St. Helen Catholic Church in Vero Beach, and served as an usher for 22 years.

Survivors include his daughters Darleen Marie Grady (Bill) of Hopewell Junction, NY and Valerie Rose Colvin (Chad) of Vero Beach; son, Michael James Schiavi of Melbourne; fiance, Frannie Moffa of Vero Beach; sister Ann "Nina" Sollecito of Yonkers, NY; two grand-daughters Joelle and Jilian Grady of Hopewell Junction, NY; and all his nieces and nephews living in New York State.

He was preceded in death by his parents Michael and Yolanda Schiavi; sister Loretta Cangelosi; three brothers-in-law and a nephew.

A visitation will be held from 12:00 - 2:00 p.m. with a prayer service starting at 2:00 on Saturday, November 3, 2012 at Cox Gifford Seawinds Funeral Home and Crematory in Vero Beach. Entombment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Fort Pierce.
