Obit: Don Carlos Scurlock, Sr.
Don Carlos Scurlock, Sr., 87, of Vero Beach, FL passed away Tuesday, February 19, 2008 at The Place at Vero Beach. Don was born on October 6, 1920 in Paintsville, KY and moved to Vero Beach in 1962 from Coral Gables, FL. He had been a horse jockey, racing in Chicago, Florida, Kentucky, New York and California. After retiring to Vero he purchased the Sabal Palm Bowling Alley. Don was a member of the 20th Avenue Church of God, a member of the Volunteer Ambulance Squad for 25 years and a volunteer Bell Ringer for the Salvation Army in Vero.
Survivors include his son Doug Scurlock and his wife Carol Ann of Vero Beach; grandchildren Georgianne (John) Graves of Stuart, FL, Christine Scurlock of Houston, TX, Allison (James) Gomez of Deltona, FL and Susan (fianc Adam Werner) Hall of Winter Park, FL; three great grandchildren and a brother Ovie (Virginia) Scurlock of Evansville, IN.
Don was predeceased by his wife Georgie Lee Scurlock and son Thomas Scurlock.
Services: There will be a private service for the family.
