Donald C. Mayer, CRNA, 76, of Vero Beach, FL died Friday, December 23, 2011 at Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne, FL.
Mr. Mayer was born January 29, 1935 in West Allis, WI and moved to Vero Beach in 1974 from Titusville, FL.
He graduated from Pulaski High School in Milwaukee, WI, St. Lukes School of Nursing in Racine, WI and Milwaukee County Hospital School of Anesthesia. Mr. Mayer had served as Chief of Anesthesia at Jess Parrish Memorial Hospital in Titusville, FL 1961-1974 and was on the Board of the Florida Association of Nurse Anesthetists before joining Punches, Molina, Jaffe, Rossway Anesthesia Group in Vero Beach, retiring in 1997.
He was a member of St. Helen Catholic Church in Vero Beach where he served as President of the Parish Council, was a member of the Greeting Committee, a Eucharistic Minister and a member of the Knights of Columbus. Mr. Mayer was also a member of the Indian River Medical Center Auxiliary.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years Mary Ann Mayer; son Michael Mayer; daughters Kathleen Fennell and her husband Todd, and Julie Hartley and her husband Rick; grandchildren Todd, Kaley and Hudson Fennell and Heather and Dalton Stokes all of Vero Beach. Also, his sisters Janice Hansen of Valrico, FL, Nancy Sellers of Cullowhee, NC and Patricia Williams of Port St. Lucie, FL.
Mr. Mayer was predeceased by his parents Casimer Snopek and Stella Mayer, and a sister Shirley Raasch.

Service: The family will receive friends 5-8 PM with a prayer service at 7 PM, Thursday, December 29, 2011 at the Cox-Gifford-Seawinds Funeral Home in Vero Beach. Mass will be celebrated 10 AM, Friday, December 30, 2011 at St. Helen Catholic Church in Vero Beach.
