Donald F. Frey
Donald Francis Xavier Frey, of Bristol Vt and Barefoot Bay Fl. died on Feb 27th at the age of 82. He was born on July 22,1926 in New Orleans La. and was the son of Edna Rose (Reilly) and August W. Frey. Donald a.k.a. Pop-Pop attended middle school in St. Louis Mo.,Chaminade High School in Long Island NY and graduated with a Business degree from Adelphi University in Garden City NY. He spent 2 years in the US Navy. and in 1952 married Dorothy Ann Johnson. He spent many years as a Woolworth Store Manager in New Jersey and In 1976 moved his family to Bristol Vt, where he owned and operated the Ben Franklin Store. He loved everything about Vermont but after the loss of his wife Dorothy in 1997 and Vermont's long winters, decided to live in Florida during the Winter to enjoy the warmth and social life with his friends and siblings.
He was predeceased by his brothers Jack and Richard Frey and sisters Rose Edna Frey and Eileen Heffernan.
He is survived by his four sons, Michael and wife Grace of Cedar Grove NJ, Timothy and wife Maryann of Clifton NJ, Dennis and wife Liz of Durham NC and Andrew and wife Karen of Farmington Hills MI. And his two daughters Mary Jeanne Livingston and husband Stan of Bristol VT and Kathleen Clark and husband Martin of Monkton VT. And 15 grandchildren of whom he was very proud of. He is also survived by his sister Mary Catherine Meehan and brothers Thomas and Robert Frey of Florida and Joseph Frey of Long Island NY.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Addison County Hospice.
A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, March 9, 2009 at St. Ambros Catholic Church in Bristol, VT.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 8, 2009, from 4-7:00 PM at the home of Mary Jeanne Livingston, 1531 Hard Scramble Rd, Bristol, VT.
