Doris Marie
Faulkner
May 4, 1940 — Jul 27, 2018
Vero Beach
Doris Witt Faulkner, 78, suddenly went home to Jesus with her son Philip by her side, on Friday July 27, 2018 at Indian River Medical Center in Vero Beach, Florida.
"Dorie" was born & raised in Erie, Pennsylvania to the late Bernard Witt & Anna (Kendziora) Witt.
She attended St Stanislaus Grade School, St Benedict Academy High School for a short time, later Graduating from East High School in 1958.
After a combined 25+ years service she retired from Erie Insurance Group where she worked primarily in the claims department area.
She was married to the late William A Faulkner for 23 years, residing in Girard, PA briefly before relocating to Vero Beach Florida where they enjoyed an active retirement lifestyle including cruises, dances, relaxing by the pool & 5 o'clock happy hour. She also held the role of President, Secretary & Treasurer of the Poinciana Community & was at one time Queen Mother, of the Red Hat Ladies Society in Florida. Dorie was a gifted thrifty shopper & had extensive closets to prove her skill. She was fun-loving, quick WITTed (hence her maiden last name), an avid reader, loved elephants & watching Turner Classic Movies. When visiting Erie she enjoyed the Zabawa & always had an entertaining, laughter-filled-time with family & friends.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother Bernard Paul Witt.
Dorie is survived by her son Philip (Anne) Fay whom she loved dearly & was a devoted hockey & soccer mom, in his youth.
As a mother-in-law, she was great to share clothes with, but most especially we enjoyed loving the same man, her son & her grand-kitty Ginger.
Dorie is also survived by her dear sister Irene (Benjamin) Brady, a sister-in-law Edith Witt, several nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews & great-great niece & nephews & her long-time best friend Beverly Paszkowski.
Much appreciation to the entire Faulkner family for welcoming Dorie into their lives & adding to the many special memories of her life.
Heartfelt thanks to the 4 th Floor North Nursing Staff at the Indian River Medical Center for your relentless, attentive care during her difficult stay & also to the Staff at Health South Rehab Center in Vero Beach for your continued care in helping her with an incredibly challenging situation. For those who connected with her not only professionally, but otherwise, you were truly her "Earthly Angels" & an answer to prayer - we are forever grateful for your compassion.
In lieu of a service, a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in Erie, PA.
Memorials may be made to the charity of one choice.
So Dorie, we fondly bid adieu, until we meet again, We Love & Miss you!
