Doris Marie
Hall
d. Sep 25, 2026
Vero Beach
Doris Marie Hall passed away on September 25, 2026, after 92 wonderful years as a daughter, sister, aunt, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and dear friend. Near the end of her life, she expressed that she would gladly live those years all over again. A resident of Vero Beach for 47 years, Doris was born in Denver, Colorado before moving at the age of three months with her family to Chicago and settling into the village of Skokie.
Doris attended Indiana University, was a member of Delta Gamma Sorority, graduated with a degree in Medical Technology, and married Charles (Charley) D. Hall, a dentist, following their graduations in 1955. They then moved to the town of Ipswich, England where Charley served in the US Air Force at RAF Bentwaters for two years. While there, they showed their award-winning Samoyed dogs, enjoyed traveling Europe, and Doris began her passion for cooking. Afterward, they returned to Bloomington for Charley’s Periodontics master’s degree program and moved to Miami, Florida where Charley opened a practice, and Doris assisted him (a role she later resumed as Charley neared retirement).
She was generous in her time and talents throughout her life. She served as president of the Miami Dental Auxiliary. She pursued her interest in art since age 10 when she attended The Art Institute of Chicago. She was later active as a docent in the Lowe Art Museum and developed her skills in painting, joining groups of artists exhibiting their work in Coconut Grove and other locations. Doris expanded her art skills into quilting for many years and produced quilts for show and blankets for each of her children and grandkids. Though initially trained in oils, she began to paint in watercolors in her later years and was still painting in her art room into the week of her passing.
Doris is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Carrie, with three children and three grandchildren and her daughter, Krista, with one son. Her family will celebrate her life at their vacation farm of 56 years in Highlands, NC where Doris will join Charley.
