Dorothy "Dottie" Carrier Buck (97), of Indian River Estates, Vero Beach, FL, passed away October 3, 2016. She was born in Hartford, CT, May 3, 1919, married Louis E. Buck November 7, 1942, and had two daughters, Beverly B. Gidley (Stephen) of Wilton, CT, and Dr. Diane L. Buck Schreck (William) of Vero Bach, FL. She had one grandchild, Emilie K. Gidley of New York City.

Dorothy attended Holcomb Street School and Weaver High School in Hartford, where she later taught. A graduate of Mt. Holyoke College, class of 1941, she worked at Connecticut General Life Insurance Co. for a short period, and during World War II worked at the Citizens National Bank in Abilene, TX. Most of her professional life was spent as a schoolteacher in the Hartford school system.

Dorothy moved from Madison, CT. to Vero Beach in 1979. She attended Christ by the Sea United Methodist Church and the Westminster Presbyterian Church. She was a member of the Vero Beach Yacht Club, and former member of the Twin Oaks Tennis Club, Vero Beach Art Club, TROA Retired Officer Association, and the Vero Beach Humane Society.
