Douglas Franklyn Fisher

August 5, 1929 ~ September 2, 2015

Faithful servant of Jesus Christ, Doug was called back home unexpectedly during a pre-operation doctor's visit. Born to Harold Franklyn Fisher and Caroline (Roeder) Fisher in Mont Clair, New Jersey. Doug was the youngest of three brothers: Robert Harold, Frederick Alfred. A firm foundation was established for his relationship with the Lord, Jesus Christ, while attending Glenn Ridge Presbyterian Church. Later in adult life he attended many denominations including Christian Science and Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints and services in New York's Avery Fisher Hall. Doug always carried the message of the Gospel into his daily life. Most notably with his work ethic and relationship with others.

Doug attended and graduated from Glenn Ridge High School where he excelled both in academics and sports, lettering in football. It was during this time he met his future wife, Adele Munsey. In 1950 Doug went to Florida seeking adventure and employment. Adele was soon to follow, and the couple became husband and wife on August 26, 1950, in Jacksonville Beach, Florida. After moving back to New Jersey, the couple became parents of two daughters Judith Lynn born January 24, 1955 and Pamela Kim born July 1, 1958. Doug and Adele moved to their first home on Cedarwood Drive in Brick, New Jersey in 1956. It was here that Doug worked his way from roofer to driver for Modern Gas Company to east coast sales manager for Masda Corporation, Parsippany. Living at the Jersey Shore until 1991, the couple moved to Vero Beach, Florida and enjoyed their retirement years. Doug loved the mountains and lakes but his love for Adele was greater as he sacrificed his love for hers, which was the ocean.

Always the handyman, Doug became a regular at Home Depot. His work ethic and attention to detail was evident in their beautiful Florida home.

A man of few, but thoughtful, words most questions were answering with "what would Jesus do?" and remember the words to "Desiderata."

Currently (January 2026) he is survived by his daughter; Judith Lynn Duffy (Lorain, Ohio), grandsons William Brantly "Bo" Duffy (Copper Mountain, Colorado), Mackensie Douglas Duffy and Connor John Duffy (New York, New

York), and Alec Barker (Utah). Nephews Gary and Glenn Smith and niece Sally Smith and possibly others.
