Duncan D. (Terry) Sutphen, III , 74, of Vero Beach, FL and Nantucket, MA died Friday, February 1, 2008 at his home in Vero Beach, FL.
He was born on May 3, 1933 in New York City, NY and moved to Vero Beach 15 years ago from Summit, NJ.
He was a member of the Community Church in Vero Beach and was a member of the Moorings Club in Vero Beach, where he was elected Commodore in 2007 and served until his death. He was also a member of the Nantucket Yacht Club and VP of the Princeton Alumi Association of Nantucket (PAANI).
Survivors include his wife of 52 years Barbara Hoggson Sutphen of Vero Beach; sons John Duncan of Nashville, TN and Bruce Fraser Sutphen of San Diego, CA; sister, Melissa Sutphen of New York City, NY; stepbrothers, Cortlandt Parker of Benichia, CA, Anthony B. Parker of Port Charlotte, FL and J.B. Riggs Parker of Martha Vineyard, MA and five granddaughters.
He was predeceased by his son William Wycoff Sutphen in 2006.
SERVICES: A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 9, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. at the Community Church of Vero Beach. A second memorial service will be held next summer on Nantucket.
